Design and construction
The design language of the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus is nearly identical to each phone. They have super tough Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the back and front, which is only found on new Galaxy phones.
The S22 and S22 Plus are significantly better built than last year’s S21 model, which was made of plastic. The back panel is flat, with a glossy, long-lasting frame made of armor aluminum. Both models are water and dust resistant to IP68 standards.
The S22 and S22 Plus both have an AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution; the S22 has a 6.1-inch display, while the S22 Plus has a 6.6-inch display. They both have an adaptive 120hz refresh rate and a responsive 240hz touch sampling rate when gaming mode is enabled.
The S22 Plus has a maximum brightness of over 1750 nits. Vision booster is a new display feature that detects your surroundings and remaps tonal parameters and contrasts on the screen to maximize visibility even in direct sunlight.
Battery & Performance
Just like last year, you get stereo speakers for your audio. The chipset is an improvement over the previous model; depending on your region, you will receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipset or the Exynos 2200, both of which should provide comparable high-end performance. Another outstanding feature of the Samsung S22 series is its performance.
The battery capacity of the S22 and S22 Plus differs significantly; the S22 has 3700 milliamp-hour power and the S22 Plus has 4500 milliamp-hour power – both models support 15-watt wireless charging and wired charging ( the S22 supports up to 25 watts wired charging while the S22 plus model can go up to 45W but neither comes with an adapter in the box).
In comparison to previous iterations, the interface of the new series phones is One UI 4.1 on top of Android 12. You get more customization options, particularly for widgets, and with the new theme set up, your menus and icons can be set to match the color of your wallpaper. A dashboard for privacy controls is available in One UI 4.
Both models have the same camera. These are some examples:
