Is iPhone 12 Waterproof? The iPhone 12 is a beautiful smartphone with full 5G network support, excellent cameras, and powerful performance. The iPhone 12 is currently one of the best iPhones available, with a price tag of $699.
Despite the release of the iPhone 13 series, which has faster performance, slightly better cameras, and longer battery life, the iPhone 12 remains one of the best phones available.
We dislike a few aspects of the iPhone 12. Despite its limited base storage and lack of a powerful zoom-in camera and a high-refresh-rate display, it is one of the best-selling phones in 2021 and 2022.
We’ll go over the price and specs of the iPhone 12, which is part of the iconic iPhone family and has a slightly different design than previous versions, as well as many other developments and improvements over previous generations.

Is iPhone 12 Waterproof?
NO. Apple’s iPhone 12 is water-resistant, so it should be fine if you drop it in the pool or get splashed with liquid. The iPhone 12 has an IP68 rating, which means it can withstand up to 19.6 feet (six meters) of water for 30 minutes.
You should not intentionally submerge or swim with your iPhone, nor should you expose it to extreme temperatures, according to Apple’s support page. However, we wanted to push it to its limits for the purposes of our experiment.
For our first dive, we wanted to put the IP68 claim to the test by diving for 30 minutes in 19.6 feet (6 meters) of water. We mounted the iPhone facing the drone’s camera, with the screen set to stay on, so we could see what happened to the iPhone while it was underwater.
We removed the phone from the water after 30 minutes and dried it with a cloth. The phone was then tested to see if it worked. The touchscreen worked perfectly, and the volume rocker functioned as expected. The photos from all three cameras (front, ultrawide, and wide) appeared normal, with no evidence of fogging.
We recorded a voice memo before dunking the phone and noticed that the speaker sounded muffled compared to after the first dive, but it’s difficult to say whether that would’ve improved after letting it dry out for a longer period of time. Apple recommends placing the iPhone’s base and Lightning connector in front of a fan to speed up the drying process. But we had different plans.
Is iPhone 12 Waterproof? How watertight is the iPhone 12?
The iPhone 12 can withstand very deep water, according to our highly speculative test, and clearly meets the IP68 claim. However, as with all electronics, there is a limit to how much water it can withstand – and you should never submerge the phone intentionally in water (lake or otherwise). Also, keep in mind that the warranty does not cover water damage.
I’m going to advise anyone with an iPhone 12 to avoid immersing their phones in water as much as possible.
